DCS Shotgun 1: Shotgun Basics

This 4-hour class focuses on the basics of the Pump-action and semi-auto platformed shotguns, however, we welcome any shotgun. We learn the history and basics of the internal operation and function of these two platforms. This class is designed for a shooter who has recently purchased a shotgun and would like to know the basics of setup and maintenance as well as proper application.

Focus areas within this course include:

·        Basic history & theory of operation

·        Basics of shotgun ammunition

·        Proper loading and unloading

·        Understanding shotgun patterns

·        Selecting the proper fitting shotgun

 

Equipment and supplies required:

  Shotgun, closed-toe shoes or boots, 25 rounds of any size shot, eye and ear protection

DCS Shotgun II: Defensive Shotgun I

This 8-hour class is the first class in a series that will help you learn basic fundamental skills using a shotgun for close-quarters personal protection both inside and outside the home. This class has a great pace and will use both dry-fire and live-fire exercises. Smaller shooters are encouraged to use 20ga or .410ga.

Focus areas within this course include:

·        Conventional shooting positions

·        Speed reloads / ammunition exchanges

·        Malfunctions clearances

·        Live-fire drills, speed drills, multiple target engagements, and identification

 

Equipment and supplies required:

  Shotgun with a sling, ammunition pouch or carrier, knee pads (optional but highly recommended), closed-toe shoes or boots, 250 rounds of ammunition any size shot, 10 slugs, 10 buckshot, eye, and ear protection.

DCS Shotgun 3: Defensive Shotgun II

Defensive Shotgun II builds off our previous class and begins to integrate your pistol skills. We will introduce the proper use of cover and concealment and some unconventional shooting positions before we turn the sun goes down and show you how to fight in the dark. Smaller shooters are encouraged to use 20ga or .410ga.

Focus areas within this course include:

·        Unconventional shooting positions

·        Use of cover and concealment

·        Flashlight Techniques

·        Pistol transitions

Class Prerequisites:

Students must already have a strong grasp of using their shotgun and keeping it running in a fight. Pistol skills should be at a more advanced level as the focus of this course is on the shotgun. Students are encouraged to have already taken Defensive Shotgun I and  Defensive Pistol II or equivalent.

Equipment and supplies required:

   Shotgun with a sling and weapon-mounted light (shotgun), pistol with strong side holster that does not collapse, ammunition carrier and or pouches, knee pads (optional but highly recommended), closed-toe shoes or boots, 250+ rounds of shotgun any size shot, 10 buckshot, 10 slugs and 50 rounds of pistol ammunition, eye, and ear protection, handheld flashlight with a momentary switch

DCS Shotgun 4: Defensive Shotgun III

Defensive Shotgun III is our final segment designed for individuals utilizing the Shotgun for protection inside or outside the home. This class introduces movement while re-enforcing your previously learned skills. Your home presents unique challenges with small rooms, hallways, and multiple entry points. Understanding these challenges is a key element in preparing yourself for home protection. Smaller shooters are encouraged to use 20ga or .410ga.

Focus areas within this course include:

·        The movement to and from cover and concealment

·        Use of Shotgun transitions with barriers

·        Pistol transitions on the move

·        Weapon mounted lights and unconventional positions

Class Prerequisites:

Students are required to have completed DCS Defensive shotgun II and Defensive Pistol II or equivalent.

Equipment and supplies required:

   Shotgun with a sling and weapon-mounted light (Shotgun), ammunition carriers or pouches, pistol with strong side holster that does not collapse, knee pads (optional but highly recommended), closed-toe shoes or boots, 250+ rounds of Shotgun ammunition any size shot, 10 buckshot, 10 slugs and 100 rounds of pistol ammunition, eye, and ear protection, handheld flashlight with a momentary switch
